1 Cardiologist. 2.8 Million People. This Is What We Are Doing About It.

In the Basse region of The Gambia, the nearest cardiologist is 377 kilometres away. One cardiologist serves 2.8 million people. Adults with undetected hypertension lose their lives from conditions that cost less than €1 per week to screen and prevent. HeartPath built a clinical programme to change that. Evalon built the fundraiser digital marketing Ireland operation that funds it.

This Is A Live Case Study

This is a live case study. RIVER BP-CARE launched in April 2026 and is now live. What you read below reflects work in progress, not a finished archive.

A fundraiser at this scale has two audiences that move at different speeds. Individual donors decide in seconds and respond to a clear human story with a verifiable cost anchor. Institutional funders take months and respond to operational evidence: governance, infrastructure, measurement, and the credibility that comes from a programme already in operation. A campaign that serves only one of those audiences leaves money on the table.

Evalon was engaged at programme inception to architect the digital operation end to end.

This page documents how, and it links directly to the campaign, so anyone reading it can support it.

The Starting Point

Before we partnered up with the HeartPath for this project, they had all the clinical work done. Gambia’s only cardiologist had confirmed governance. Partnership with the OceanHealth Foundation gave this programme a go. The programme was structured to reach adults in Dampha Kunda who had never been screened, in a district where cardiovascular disease kills people who could have been treated for the price of a weekly coffee.

What did not exist was anything digital. The GoFundMe page had no campaign copy behind it. The programme didn’t have social channels, a fundraiser page, and AI system to handle operational coordination across programmes running simultaneously. She was busy with the clinical brief. The digital operation that would fund it had not been built yet. That’s where we partnered up to bring the first nurse-led sustainable prevention programme in Rural Africa.

The campaign is in early operation. The first-mission target of €26,000 equips 800 adults with a full year of cardiovascular screening, treatment, and follow-up at 1€ per week per adult.

The figures above describe the operational footprint Evalon built. They are not the outcome metric. The outcome metric that matters for HeartPath is the number of adults screened and treated, and that number begins to move once the equipment is funded and the first mission deploys.

Fundraiser Digital Marketing Ireland: The Four-Phase Operation

Every fundraiser digital marketing Ireland engagement Evalon builds runs through the same four phases: discovery and donor strategy, AI infrastructure, campaign build, and live operation. RIVER BP-CARE is that architecture applied to a transcontinental cardiovascular prevention programme. The sections below document each phase as it happened.

The AI infrastructure

We built an AI Virtual Assistant before the fundraiser launched. It integrates Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, PubMed, and the ICD-10 database into a single system using 406 lines of custom code. It handles operational coordination across three continents. When institutional funders assess HeartPath’s capacity, the infrastructure is already live and auditable. The complete AI Virtual Assistant build is documented in its own case study.

The Fundraiser Campaign

We rewrote the GoFundMe from scratch. The headline became: “1 Cardiologist. 2.8 Million People. Help Karen Change That.” The copy leads with the human reality, not the clinical brief. To cover one adult for a full year of cardiovascular care, it just takes less than 1€ a week. That number is specific, verifiable, and personal. It does not need explanation.

Less Than €1 a Week. One Adult. One Year of Care.

The RIVER BP-CARE campaign is live. Every donation goes directly to cardiovascular screening in rural Gambia, where 2.8 million people share one cardiologist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the RIVER BP-CARE programme?

A 3-year cardiovascular prevention programme in rural Gambia. One cardiologist serves 2.8 million people. The programme targets undetected hypertension in the Basse region, where the nearest cardiologist is 377 kilometres away. Less than €1 per week covers one adult for a full year of care.

What did Evalon build for this campaign?

The full digital operation from zero. Campaign strategy, GoFundMe rewrite, Instagram, Facebook page and group, LinkedIn campaign mode, press list, local outreach playbook for Naas and Kildare, Google Ad Grants application, and Kira: a custom AI system managing HeartPath's programme operations daily.

How do I support the campaign?

Donate at the GoFundMe: "1 Cardiologist. 2.8 Million People. Help Karen Change That." Less than €1 per week. The target is €144,000 by December 2026. Every donation goes directly to funding the first clinical mission into rural Gambia.

Why does this programme need digital marketing?

Without funding, no screening happens. The programme has clinical credibility and a cost model that works. What it needed was a digital operation that could reach both individual donors and institutional funders at the same time. That is what we built.

What is AI Virtual Assistant?

A custom AI chief of staff built by Evalon for HeartPath. It connects Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, PubMed, and ICD-10 in one system. It handles operational coordination across Ireland, the UK, and sub-Saharan Africa so the programme director stays focused on the clinical work.
